2009 Governor's Awards for the Arts to be held in York, PA

The Cultural Alliance of York County is pleased to announce that it has been named by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) as lead community resource for the Governors Awards for the Arts to be held in York, PA on October 1, 2009. The annual state event honors outstanding artists, arts organizations, and patrons of the arts. The awards are administered for Governor Edward G. Rendell by the PCA, a state agency, which works closely with the local community. Since 1997, the ceremony has been held in a different Pennsylvania location each year. “This is very exciting for the Cultural Alliance and York,” said Dave Meckley, Board Chair, “we are pleased these awards will become a catalyst for economic development in York.”
Gov. Rendell and his wife, Judge Marjorie O. Rendell, will host the awards ceremony, to be held at the Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center.
