Cultural Alliance announces Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) Project Grant Recipients for 2011
The Cultural Alliance of York County, partnered with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, PA Partners Program, to distribute $22,500 to organizations and individuals in four counties recently. York, Adams, Franklin, and Fulton counties were recipients of grants through this partnership between the Cultural Alliance of York County, and the PA Council on the Arts.
York County Awardees:
- Hanover Lancers
- Brass and percussion concert with seven alumni bands
- Pa Arts Experience
- Promote art through the Artist Trail
- Performing Arts for Children
- Aid students in the fundamentals of reading and writing, kindergarten through second grade, with books and a theatre experience
- REACH
- A theatre experience that focuses on real student problems
- Springettsbury Township
- Free summer concerts in a festive outdoor amphitheater environment
- York Art Association
- Classes for African American secondary students based on Black History Themes
- York County Heritage Trust
- Free Build it Days for students aged 10 to 18
Adams County Awardees:
- Gettysburg Children’s Choir
- Gettysburg Children's Choir Concerts
- Gettysburg Community Concert Association
- Presentation of community concerts and student outreach
- HACC Gettysburg
- A community celebration in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month
Franklin County Awardees:
- Chambersburg Ballet Theatre
- The Firebird will be produced with outreach based on it
- Chambersburg Middle School
- 20-day residency focusing on historical dance
- Franklin County Library System
- Kick-off concerts for 2012 summer reading program
- Freedom Valley Chorus
- Presenting a show of barbershop music
- Nicodermus Center for Ceramic Studies
- To support the Cumberland Valley Pottery Festival
- Summertrios
- Adult, amateur musicians will be able to play, study, and perform classical music
- Wilson College
- Residency program for visual performing artists
Fulton County Awardees:
- Central Fulton Middle School
- A musical theatre experience open to students 7 to 12 grade
- Forbes Road Middle School
- A historical dance 10-day residency project for the 9th grade World History curriculum
- Hope Moore
- Musical theatre experience for students 4 to 7 grade
- Southern Fulton High School
- 10-day residency for 10th grade literacy through historical dance
